Wanda White’s story is an inspiration to anyone who ever dreamed of taking their culinary skills from amateur to professional. Wanda grew up in Memphis, where she was mesmerized by local bakery her mother would take her to. When her children were born, she wanted to create the kind of professional cakes she saw and remember from her youth. So she took a Wilton cake decorating class. Then another, and another. Soon she began working in local bakeries, and started a small business of specialty cakes. Her reputation grew, as did her business. Wanda continued to refine her skills and seek more education, which led her to the Culinary School of the Art Institute of Dallas. After graduating she was asked to teach the baking class – a dream come true. “I love teaching and seeing the joy of my students when they actually make a good loaf of bread or bake their first successful cake.” She says. September of 2005 Chef White decided it was time to open her own shop up. La Dolce Vita is a dream come true for Chef White and everything that goes out of the shop from the smallest cookie to the largest catering job has Chef White’s personal touch!
